Tuba player David Ostwald got hooked on Louis Armstrong and his music at age 15.
Now he leads the Louis Armstrong
Eternity Band, which has played every Wednesday evening at Birdland in the heart of New York’s Theater District for the past 20 years.
“My tuba has been a magic carpet,” he says. “It’s taken me to places I might never have gone, and I’ve met many people I wouldn’t otherwise have met.”
